I just placed an order for EDA-FTO 8300 Amplifier.   I am anxious to see the results.  I  have been having problems with the digital cable strength coming from the cable provider, Comcast.   I have added 5 digital converter boxes in my 2nd home.   A real hassle with the provider in that each box must be activated.   I am now having problems with signal loss to the point when I return to the house after a week and try to turn the tvs on - I have lost signal strength resulting in lower end channels not being rec'd.  Needing to call the provider and going through the re-set procedure again and again.  I do know that when I had a cable tech come to the house - he was able to enter a command from the remote control hand unit which provided an on-screen diagnostic, signal strength at that particular t, etc.  He was not wiling to share the input codes for this diagnostic and I was wondering if anyone out there has an idea of what these codes.   Lastly - the up-shod to  my problems is to re-wire the house using home-runs from the 8300 Amp.   Would appreciate any input from other posters.

I placed an order on your other web site picture fixzers 2 days ago.  Lyn J sent me an urgent email stating that one of my items was no longer available (even though it showed in stock).  Anyway I have responded to her email twice to refund the one item, add 75 ohm terminators (3), and ship the 8300.  After several emails asking for, and leaving a voicemail, I have yet to recieve a response.  Please respond.  I left my phone number on the voicemail. I tried the SB6120 on my EDA FT08100 and some interesting results.

The modem connected and worked fine for the most part. Locked up once a week or so.

When the modem was under heavy loads I would loose everything but channel 2 on my TivoHD which uses a cable card.

The SA 2000 and 2100  STB's I rent from Comcast continued to work fine.

I ended up putting a 2-way split on the incoming line and with one line to the amp and another to the cable modem. Now everything works as it should.

One other thing - using a diplexer can degrade cable and cable modem performance. Avoid the use of diplexers unless absolutely necessary.

So your illustration shows 2 8-way splitters which would indicate a lot more than 8 TVs.
In the instance of having a cable modem and VoIP phone service you shoudl consider a BYPASS product. A bypass amp will allow the VoIP phone to continue to operate (as long as there is a battery backup for the router) if there is a power failure.

if you do not use a bypass amplifier you could lose phone service in the event of a power failure. The other alternative is to use a 2-way splitter in front of an amplifier and feed the phone/modem directly off one leg of the splitter, and feed the amplifier off of the other leg.

Some ISPs do not allow the viewing of the modem status pages, In these instances there is not much you can do to determine the modem performance.

With the FT08000 and FT08300 you could either split prior to connecting, or you could cascade the FT08000 off of the 8300.
As far as cable modem power levels - a level in the low to mid 40's  is just fine. when you start going lower, the low power level could potentially negatively impact your upstram signal to noise ratio.

So lower upstream signal levels are not always better.

I probably wasn't clear. I am REMOVING the old amp (single) and replacing with the new 4 port amp.   I assumed that using a splitter would degrade the signal to one or both of the devices that I would like to run.  So, I purchased this 4 port amp to replace the existing 1 port amp that the cable company had installed.

OLD SETUP:
----------------------------|
    (power to amp)         |
                                   |
------------------------->Old amp ------------------------>TV
(line into amp out to tv)

NEW setup:

-----------------------------|
    (power to amp)          |
                                    |
------------------------> New amp(1) -----------------------> TV
 line into amp out to tv              (2) -----------------------> TV2
                                              (3)------------------------>(not used yet)
                                              (4)------------------------>(not used yet)

The problem is likely that the signal is being overdriven.
If you alreay have one amp, you do not need another one to split further until the signal level drops significantly.

Split off your connections as evenly as possible from your original amp.

I currently have an electroline single port powered amplifier connected to my HD TV.  This was supplied by the cable company (Brighthouse in Central FL).
The line (out) connects to an HD cable box.   The input RF comes directly from the cable near the wall.  Power from a near by receptical.

SO, I decided to put an HTPC in, and need to splt the signal to accomodate a new HDTV card in the PC.

I bought the PCT-MA2-4P (though I only need 2 outs for right now).

WHen I hook this up, I get a green power light on the new unit, but no signal at the TV/Cable box.  I rebooted the box, and still no signal.

I switch back to the Electroline and have a good signal. (using same cables for each so it's not the cables).

The cables are attached well, and properly according to instructions.

WHAT COULD THE ISSUE BE??

IS this the wrong device to do what I need?

Any Help is appreciated.
